A Community Project Supporting Women
Historically, women in Costa Rica tend to occupy low wage and/or part-time positions in sectors like hospitality and tourism which are vulnerable to fluctuations outside their control.
Pregnancy and childcare are also factors determining whether women are able to work. Plus, lack of education in rural areas leads to a cycle of early pregnancy, low wage-earning, substance abuse problems and a lack of role models who could encourage young women by offering a more rewarding and fulfilling alternative. These cycles create other problems as well.
Provide & Conquer was founded to address these issues. The goal of Provide & Conquer is to provide women in the community access to education, mentorship, training and funding to enable them to thrive economically and socially. By doing so, women can be helped to end these cycles through education, and by encouraging capability and confidence.
Mentorship not only offers valuable insights based on experience, but also positive role models to challenge the status quo. With training and funding, the foundations for successful entrepreneurship are created. And most importantly, this paradigm of collaboration, with the open exchange of ideas and perspectives, allows all participants to learn from each other and grow as women and human beings.
